Earlier this year at the World Health Assembly, nations of the world https://www.ncsbn.org/15915.htm ©2021 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 2 came together to endorse the latest iteration of the strategic directions document for strengthening nursing and midwifery. This document focuses on four major areas, education, jobs, leadership, and service delivery. And encompasses 12 areas of work, many of them with specific relevance to regulatory reform. In countries around the world, we have also seen a plethora of nursing- related publications. For example, here in the United States, "The Future of Nursing," the Tri-Council summit report, and work currently underway by Johnson & Johnson.

The varying responses to managing the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated more than ever the importance of good governance. It has highlighted the weak and rigid public financial management systems which do not allow for sufficient and flexible financial allocations. It challenged current models of service delivery. In many countries, public health services were not prepared for triage and contact tracing. Hospitals became overcrowded and struggled to provide care for everyone who needed it. Some emergency responses were impaired by difficulties around distribution and use of medicines and medical products and PPE.

Other people, I think, in Australia obviously prefer that face-to-face. So absolutely burgeoned over COVID. Again, though, the issue with the international perspective, from Australia, obviously, we're a bit of an island, so it's a bit easier. But, you know, there are big issues with how service providers internationally are providing care to Australian citizens. And some of the challenges, for example, there are medical practitioners, for example, that do want to, from an international jurisdiction, come and provide telehealth services to Australian people.

Because we would do things and then I would get these nice calls, like, "Lori, now what's this message you [inaudible]? So, I would give you caution that if you go down this road, the partnership between them because it does impact their whole customer service team, everything you're doing, they really need to know. So you have to be aware of how both systems work. So we did have joint meetings between NCSBN customer service and the Missouri licensure team, and then NCSBN graciously recorded a session where we walked through this whole Nursys e-Notify enrollment piece and shared screenshots.
