Examples of prohibited, irregular behavior include, but are not limited to, the following: DO NOT ACCESS ELECTRONIC DEVICES All electronic devices (cell/mobile/smart phones, smart watches, MP3 players, fitness bands, jump drives, cameras, etc.) must be placed inside a Pearson VUE provided plastic bag. • Candidates who refuse to store their cell/mobile/smart phones or other electronic devices in the Pearson VUE provided plastic bag upon check-in will not be allowed to test. They will be required to reregister and pay another exam fee for any additional exam appointments. • Return the bag unopened: After the exam, you must return your unopened, Pearson VUE bag to the administration desk to be opened and examined by the TA.

And then when she was challenged on this during the litigation, she said, "What do you expect? They made me use my own computer. I wasn't being paid enough and, of course, I have the records." So I don't know if that's a common practice with home health agencies to have the nurses use their own personal computers at any time to store patient records. I would be horrified if that were common, but that's at least how she explained it. So the board cited her for HIPAA violations and violations of the Nurse Practice Act for confidentiality of patient records and improperly keeping the personal patient records after she stopped providing nursing care to those patients.

The REx-PN Practical Nurse Examination Committee has the ultimate oversight responsibility for the REx-PN examination. The committee is composed of nursing regulators within British Columbia and Ontario. For additional information about item writing and item review, please visit the ncsbn.org website to access the webinars. During the next few slides, I will talk about how we maintain the REx-PN exam item development. REx-PN maintenance includes pool rotation, item reviews, and content currency. Pool rotation involves following an item pool delivery schedule to reduce the risk of overexposure.

So, that means that it's not just kind of, like, churn and burn. We're really thinking about the needs of the patients and we're working together so I have adequate resources, my schedule is helpful. When I'm finished seeing my patients at the end of my visit, I have someone that I can hand off to. Maybe it's a nurse who's able to say, "Okay, I'm going to make sure that some of these post-visit, whether it be prescriptions, whether it be lab work, that I help connect people to make sure that they know where to go next." ©2024 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.
