    We were kind of, you know, left in the cold wastelands of virtual meetings and presentations, and so, I'm just really excited and I'm energized by the opportunity to really get to engage with you in person. But I am here today to discuss the results of one of our recently completed COVID-19 studies entitled, "Assessing the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Pre-Licensure Nursing Education." So this was a national study of RN programs around the United States. Before I kick things off though, I would be truly remiss if I did not mention that this is really an excellent example of interdepartmental collaboration, yet again, at NCSBN.

    Increased workloads, stress, and burnout have significantly strained the current U.S. nursing workforce, and the pandemic has disrupted traditional educational models. As a result, we project critical staffing shortfalls and reductions in the practice readiness of new nurse graduates at a time when more nurses than ever are needed to address the increase in inpatient demand from and related to COVID-19 and an aging population. ©2023 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.
