MAIL experienced a significantly higher return rate. Although the response rates were adjusted for bad email addresses, it is not known how many email invitations were blocked due to spam filters or sent to email addresses that still existed, but were not used. I have worked at the Board of Nursing since 2010 as the director of education in practice. In 2020, I was selected as the CEO by the board following our previous CEO and national council president, Julie George. A change in leadership during a pandemic is certainly not ideal, but our board's many strengths has supported us during this transition. As the current CEO, it is a huge honor to receive the 2020 Regulatory Achievement Award for the North Carolina Board of Nursing. On behalf of the 14 board members, over 50 board staff, I gratefully accept the Regulatory Achievement Award.

It’s understood that mistakes will occur, and that having a shared accountability model in place promotes both individual- and system-level learning from those mistakes. Individuals know they will be held accountable for their actions, but will not be blamed for system faults that lie beyond their con- trol. They can trust that a fair process will be used to determine what went wrong. And they’re likely Creating a Fair and Just Culture in Schools of Nursing The quality and safety of patient care depends not only on what happens in clinical settings, but also on what happens in academic set- tings.
