    The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. With Benton’s skilled guidance at the onset and throughout the pandemic, NCSBN both led and was an active participant in a number of initiatives designed to increase access to NCLEX examination administration, reduce regulatory barriers for providers, open clinical experiences for nursing students and offer direction on the administration of COVID-19 vaccines. Benton was also a significant contributor to the State of the World’s Nursing 2020: Investing in Education, Jobs and Leadership Report, offering a regulatory perspective and providing accurate data, evidence and suggestions for legislative change.

Results COVID-19 Emergency Orders • During the pandemic, over 15 jurisdictions issued statements and emergency orders specifically addressing the use of simulation. • Most of the orders involved relaxing some restrictions on the use of simulation by BONs that already had specified regulations. • Six BONs removed or shifted caps on the permissible percentage of simulation hours that could be substituted for clinical hours.

    And we also followed up with an online webinar and we had 103 attendees. Thank you all to those of you who provided just great quality feedback, I can assure you that every comment is being thoughtfully reviewed. We received 62 feedback surveys. Licensure and Governance received 16% of the feedback. Discipline received 19%. Practice 28%. And education had 37%. Comments received included those around what information to include in the new Article 10 on Emerging Technologies, how artificial intelligence should be incorporated, information that was not covered within the revised documents, and then specific comments, might even say debate, regarding proposed changes.
