    With this release, ORBS has updated its public Portals (Nurse Portal, Complaint Portal, License Verification Portla) to utilize Google’s reCAPTCHA as an increased security measure which is easy on humans and harder on the bots. Most of the time, the user will simply need to check a box. On occasions like a first time visit, it can present a secondary verification step as shown below to positively determine that the user is not a bot. When selecting the Update Respondent Info button, if the Respondent name and contact information from the Complaint is different from what is already in ORBS, a popup window appears, offering to keep or update the existing information.

    So, while it was a difficult task, it really shone a light on how important our current processes for record-keeping and documentation are. And so, we share that as the learning because I think it's something that every organization should be mindful of as we think about how we store documents, what we keep, and how we can access information and documentation that we may need in the future. As regulators, we're all part of a healthcare system that supports safe patient care and we know that each of us has an important role to play.

    That is the kind of quantum of work that this particular area, our area, is receiving at the moment. A huge amount of interest, a need to really fundamentally rethink how we move forward in a time of complexity, a time of technology, and a time of enormous change.     One interviewer would lead the interview while the other took notes. We did not record the interviews because they often took place in non-work public settings such as coffee shops. Interview notes were reviewed by each of the 14 members who participated in the site visit research. We then met to develop consensus on key themes. We then coded the interviews within those initial themes and we reviewed the themes and codings iteratively to ensure that no new themes were emerging. We identified four key thematic areas that I'll talk about today.

    So here are the key quality indicators. These are the ones that really make a difference, we have found. Accreditation is really linked to outcomes, and we have done studies on that. And the approval status that all of the boards of nursing do, we found that from our site visit study. Very important data. NCLEX trends. Now remember, the NCLEX is a lagging factor. So what we're trying to do is prevent that from falling by looking at some of these other indicators. Director turnover. You can have more than three directors in five years, and that is bad for your outcomes.
