ARTICLE IX Oversight, Dispute Resolution and Enforcement a. Oversight 1. Each party state shall enforce this Compact and take all actions necessary and appropriate to effectuate this Compact’s purposes and intent. 2. The Commission shall be entitled to receive service of process in any proceeding that may affect the powers, responsibilities or actions of the Commission, and shall have standing to intervene in such a proceeding for all purposes. Failure to provide service of process in such proceeding to the Commission shall render a judgment or order void as to the Commission, this Compact or promulgated rules. b.

In April 2022, ICRS will offer a new course, “Cracking the Code to Nursing Education Approval: The Evidence.” The course focuses on cutting-edge evidence boards of nursing use when approving nursing education programs. You will learn about evidence-based quality indicators of nursing programs, keys to a successful site visit and how we are building a national nursing database. You will hear from experts in nursing regulation and education on program evaluation. There is limited enrollment in this course, so sign up early. Other courses include one on the hot topic of diversity, equity and inclusion in regulatory practice.

That EO partnership was originally scheduled to last one year. Now, six and a half years later, I still rely on my EO mentor for advice and encouragement. That relationship provided a great starting point for my involvement with NCSBN and motivated me to explore areas of service and opportunities for learning. As a new EO looking into the organization, I frequently wondered if I would ever have the institutional knowledge or regulatory background to be of value to a committee. I wanted to serve but I was not certain that there was a place for me.

It is simply an accelerating trend, and it will blow the idea of scopes of practice out of the window, and instead, we need to look at the concept of matrices of competence. However, we are not starting from scratch. Systems already exist that can guide us. This is a slide from the United Kingdom Health Service. It was codifying that every single job in the health service in the UK can be described by five key core characteristics. The job consists of those five, and in addition, there are different levels, depending on the job. In addition to those five core competencies, there are additional job-specific competencies.
