CAT helped BONs continue their mission of public protection. In 2011, NCSBN announced that the NCLEX-RN would be used as a licensure requirement in Canada starting in 2015. Canadian RN regulators were looking for a new exam that employed the latest advances in testing technology, offered enhanced test security, increased accessibility, provided timely results and allowed for precise assessment of a candidate’s performance. Just like NCSBN did in the 1980s, Canadian regulators were looking for a better way to measure entry-level nursing knowledge.

Action Item: The BOD-related NCLEX Policies will be presented to the NCSBN Board of Directors at their May 2025 meeting. #9 AGENDA ITEM: Approve Member Board Review of Items Report (Executive Session) GOAL: To review comments on items from member board reviews and provide disposition on said items. Discussion: Two RN items and one PN item were referred to the committee for review. Decision: The committee decided to retain one RN, one PN item, and rework one RN item. #10 AGENDA ITEM: Approve DIF Report (Executive Session) GOAL: Maintain the NCLEX as a valid, reliable and psychometrically sound, legally defensible exam with items free of unintended bias.

For flooding, most notably was the historic flood of 2016, which denied us access to the building. For hurricanes, it is Hurricane Katrina, which we were down for about two to three weeks. We had no access to the building, and we had no way to communicate with the public, or the nurses, or each other.
