She has served on the NCSBN Board of Directors (BOD) as Area IV Director since 2023, and her term expires in 2025. Recently, 2023 marked the first year in which four members of the NCSBN BOD were member board presidents. Blozen reflects on this time, and her continuing service on the BOD. What would you like people to know about your service on the NCSBN BOD? The BOD’s function is to advance and promote excellence in nursing regulation. Paramount to this role is serving the purpose, mission, vision and values of NCSBN.

For me, integrity is not only about ethics, but about alignment. I strive to ensure that my actions reflect the same values I expect from others. It’s what sustains credibility and ensures that leadership is worthy of the trust placed in it. Ultimately, I view leadership not as a title, but as a form of service. Service to the public, to the profession and to the teams I work with each day. Leadership in nursing regulation is a calling to safeguard, support, and strengthen the systems that protect both patients and practitioners. The challenges of regulatory leadership are many: evolving practice models, workforce shortages, and the constant need to balance flexibility with accountability.

We're looking at the analytics on our site and what's performing well and where we need to do more work. And we're starting to build out various sections of the site, but it's really good because the organization has also grown. I mean, when I started, we were at about 130, now we're close to 200.
