The report is to educate the public that drugs other than alcohol, including marijuana, are absorbed, distributed and eliminated from the body differently than alcohol. While BAC correlates closely with impairment, there is no such measure (e.g., THC) for marijuana that correlates with impairment. Thus, a BAC-equivalent impairment measure is not possible. The concept of alcoholism and other drug dependency as being a disease first surfaced early in the 19th century. In 1956, the American Medical Association (AMA) de- clared alcoholism an illness, and in 1987, the AMA and other medical organizations officially termed addiction a disease (Lesh- ner, 1997). The American Nurses Association estimates that 6% to 8% of nurses have alcohol or drug abuse problems serious enough to impair their judgment, meaning that the disease of addiction profoundly affects the nursing profession.

I don't have the diversity numbers yet from the…they pulled us down by the evaluators. It did surprise me [[00:26:30]] to be quite honest because when you look at the national demographics related to diversity in APRN education is much lower. - Yeah. Yeah. So there may be something for you guys to kind of tease out of that information about why that worked. I'm fascinated by that.
