Extending its public protection beyond state borders, the board developed a nursing resource center to provide public education and licensee resources within the state and around the world. At the legislative level, the Alabama Board of Nursing is a highly regarded advocate for public policy. In the wake of the 2015 Supreme Court decision to limit immunity from anti-trust law to certain state licensing boards, the board took the lead in developing a review policy for regulatory agencies that ensured compliance while prioritizing safety for patients and the public.

I've been able to take a lot of that information back to my board and implement a lot of that. - I was just really impressed with the high caliber of people. Just the leadership skills, communication, just amazing people and mentors. - The networking and the connections you make are for a lifetime. - Lead to inspire. Be part of something larger than yourself. Shaping nursing regulation for the future. Motivating others to serve by your example. - I'd say if you are interested in running for a position, just do it.
