This question really is asking whether changes have been made to prevent this type of error from happening again. The educational institution must ask whether the training on med- ication administration is sufficient as well as why the faculty member was not accessible. Perhaps the program should con- sider a new policy where medications are administered only under the supervision of the clinical instructor. Likewise, the program should review its policies on what constitutes an er- ror or near-miss, and how they are to be addressed. There should be clear guidelines on how to report errors and near- misses and who should receive these reports.

And they really wanted us to create this NST2 so they could utilize them more in the emergency departments. And then if you can think of any lobbyists of organizations who are potentially affected, I had these conversations with them as I was forming the advisory committee to ensure that, one, if they needed to be on the advisory committee, or two, just to assure them that they had nothing to worry about.

So we have an item of fixed difficulty of zero and a person with an ability of zero responding to that item. So we follow the zero ability up to the item characteristic curve, and then we ©2025 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 4 find the probability value on the y-axis. This example shows that a person with an ability of zero, given an item of the same difficulty, would have about a 50% chance of getting it correct. So roughly 50-50. Now, let's take the same item, but let's say we give it to somebody that had a higher ability of, let's say, 1.1.
