The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. No Slide Title NCSBN & The Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers 2013 National Workforce Survey of RNs Demographic Results According to the US Census Bureau individuals from ethnic and racial minority groups accounted for 37% of the US population in 2012. 19% of the respondents were minorities – an increase from 17% in 2008. Compact Results 36% of those who resided in a compact state indicated they had utilized their compact license (i.e., they had practiced in another compact state). 92% had practiced in one additional state, 8% in multiple additional states.

So what we did was we changed our research agenda and decided what was happening was at a point in time that was so important, we needed to capture a lot of data. And so a lot of the research we have been focused on has been looking at outcomes from COVID-19. So I'm going to tell you about our National Prelicensure RN Study in a minute, but we've been looking at new graduate outcomes as they've entered the workforce. We looked at the impact of waivers for APRNs not needing a collaborative agreement during COVID-19.

Wisconsin Case Scenarios cont. • Nurse AD was licensed in Florida with a multistate license. AD also had a nurse practitioner certificate from WI. In September 2021, Nurse AD prescribed hydroxychloroquine to multiple patients for off-label use to treat COVID-19. The WI Board of Nursing issued an administrative warning to Nurse AD stating that in June 2020, the FDA revoked their emergency use authorization which had previously authorized hydroxychloroquine for emergency treatment of COVID-19, and in April 2021, the World Health Organization issued a statement advising against treating COVID-19 with hydroxychloroquine.
