We used strategies to ensure consistency in the discussion sessions. However, often participants went off topic. While respondents were both motivated to complete the surveys, despite the length of the second one, we did observe behavior that may align with survey fatigue. Thank you for joining us for the research update section. I hope I shared information you find valuable. Thanks again.

You answered 90 items. Only candidates whose performance was close to the passing standard, either just above it or just below it, had to answer the maximum number of 150 items. Fewer items were required for a precise pass-fail decision to be made for those candidates whose performance was much lower than the passing standard. Pass-fail decisions are based upon the candidate's performance across the entire examination. To pass the REx-PN examination, a candidate must perform ABOVE the passing standard.

REx-PN results will be mailed by a candidate's nursing regulatory body. Do not call NCSBN, Pearson Candidate Services or the test center for results. Although the exam is scored as the candidate completes each item, no results are released at the test center. In fact, test center staff do not have access to the exam results. If more than six weeks have passed and candidates have yet to receive a result, contact  BCCNM  or  CNO .

They found the strengths of prelicensure nursing education to be: (a) developing ethical comportment in students; and (b) providing powerful clinical experiences where students can integrate both classroom and clinical teaching. 4 Nursing programs, however, are beginning to step up to the challenges. In a follow-up guest editorial, Benner (2012) reported encouraging news on how programs are making changes, based on the Carnegie Study’s recommendations. Likewise, Djukic et al. (2013) revealed good news about modest improvements being made in the preparedness of new graduates in the areas of quality and safety, perhaps related to the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative that has been integrated throughout prelicensure programs.

Failing to follow testing regulations or the instructions of the test administrator. Creating a disturbance of any kind. Tampering with the operation of the computer or attempting to use it for any function other than taking the examination.

For us, this meant really prioritizing nurses and midwives. We did engage with other audiences as well, but given limited resources, we really felt we needed to focus on the people who use our website most, being the nurses and the midwives. So in comms, and probably, maybe in other areas, you have to have a thick skin because we got a lot of bad news about our BCCNP homepage.

But I certainly think that with the statistics speaking for themselves, we're headed for a shortage, unlike perhaps something that we've never seen. There's a variety of reasons for that. Hospitals do account for a large portion of the shortage as they approach about a 20% vacancy nationwide. But when you take a look at just what's happened through the pandemic, in 2021, nursing supply dropped by about 100,000 nurses in this country.

Television did so much for the civil rights movement, whether it was for young kids with the American bandstand, believe it or not, where they played the first real black music on TV, where you saw black and white kids dancing together in the late '50s and early '60s. Or being able to watch the evening news and see what was happening in Virginia, or Maryland, or South Carolina, or Louisiana, or Alabama, or Mississippi.

They don't know if you have a dry sense of humor. All they see is, "Yeah, I'd like to kill that guy." That doesn't look good. And again, this may seem like I'm being a big Debbie downer and we can't have fun anymore, but trust me, you know, like I said, getting in trouble for this, that's what's not fun. And again, my final piece of advice on this front is just don't put anything in the email that you wouldn't want on the front page of the newspaper or on the head of a news website. If you would be embarrassed by somebody seeing this, don't do it.
