This is taught in their academies, or at least it was. They tell me these days, it's no longer taught. But there are some who still remember it and who like it. Now, unfortunately, this has morphed into practices that extend the use of force well beyond the need for compliance as we know. I actually witnessed such an incident in a parking lot in Inglewood some years ago. I'm sitting there, one morning, I can't remember now why I was there, but was probably making some notes after a visit. And I had started the car, but as I did that, I noticed that there was a chase in progress in front of me.
