A number of differing views on how APN practice is defined, what constitutes specialization versus subspecialization, and the appropriate credentialing requirements that would authorize practice had emerged over the past several years. An invitation to participate in a national APN consensus process was sent to 50 organizations that were identified as having an interest in advanced practice nursing (see Appendix F). Thirty-two organizations participated in the APN Consensus Conference in Washington, D.C. June 2004. The focus of the one-day meeting was to initiate an in-depth examination of issues related to APN definition, specialization, sub-specialization, and regulation, which includes accreditation, education, certification, and licensure17 .

And how is the licensure process completed through ORBS? - Sure, definitely, that would be a process that we go through the entire system. However, there are a number of videos available on ncsbn.org website. So you need an NCSBN passport account to log in and you can view those videos. So that will give you a good idea about the product. And we are always here to do a demo before your implementation starts. All of the NCSBN supplement reports are completely available, free to download off the journal website. So, they're all there. So, you don't even need to sign in to be able to access that one on passport. Within the "Regulation 2030," it did set the agenda. Here are our current strategic initiatives, we'll be talking about the revision to those tomorrow, so I'm not going to spend any further time on that.
