Cynthia Labonte from Wyoming, Area 1 director who took early retirement in May 2021, and Anne Coghlan from Canada, Director-at-large, who has announced she will retire at the end of this year. The board and NCSBN have benefited from the leadership, service, and contributions and we wish them the very best in their future endeavors. Demonstration of the values of NCSBN has provided a sound on depending and response to the most unusual year. Those values, collaboration, excellence, innovation, integrity, and transparency have certainly been reflected in the business activities of this past year.

To your point about artificial intelligence, I will tell you that one of the reasons that I have on my slide, would your evaluation change if this happened twice and involved different licensees?

And finally, myself, Area II Member from North Dakota. We cannot do the important work of the LSC without the strong support and gentle guidance of our NCSBN staff, Chelsea Kelly and Andrew Hicks. Please join me in thanking the LSC members and our support team for their service. All right, awesome. Thank you. I know that we already acknowledged you, but on behalf of the Leadership Succession Committee, we would like to welcome each of the first-time Midyear Meeting attendees. And so, with this authority if we investigated, the state of conduct would have the ability to issue and enforce subpoenas, which would definitely aid in the investigation. ©2021 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. And it's not limited to patient care. The practice of nursing in a party state under multistate privilege will subject the nurse to the jurisdiction of the licensing board, the courts, and the laws of the party state in which the client is located at the time services provided.

., the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories, as well as those of all other health care disciplines, are based on practice occurring where the patient is located. 8 NCSBN supports federal and state legislation that will help veterans safely and competently enter civilian careers in nursing. 9 A Bridge Between Military and Nursing Careers The 2013 White House report, The Fast Track to Civilian Employment: Streamlining Credentialing and Licensing for Service Members, Veterans and Their Spouses, encourages states to support legislative efforts that will transition veterans into the civilian workplace. NCSBN wholeheartedly joins these efforts valuing the contributions veterans have made in the military by acknowledging their training and experience.

To me, that endangers the patient, and it is all about quality patient care, that we start there. And I know that those who are proponents of staff ratios are saying it's about quality patient care. But I'm thinking that we still need the leadership of on-site people who are making decisions on a day-to-day basis about, what is the situation here? So if you're going to put them in, have your escape clause in there somewhere that says that it really is up to those who are monitoring the day-to-day situation that goes on. - Well, what I would add is, spending a lot of my time in front of legislative committees, giving testimony to legislators, the last people on earth I want doing staffing ratios for nurses is legislators.

During this time, the coalition held a press conference in the Capitol rotunda on Florida Nurses Association's Nurses Day, which will play a clip from in a moment. For the remainder of legislative session. The coalition ensured that nursing groups were on site every day at the Capitol, creating a sea of white quotes with our coalition-branded stickers, which were similar to the presence that had been created by the firefighters during the 2019 session. This strategy proved effective not only to demonstrate a strong presence within the capital but also allowed for many opportunities for lawmakers to hear from the nurses in their districts about this important issue.

If people trust that they're being treated fairly within a [00:25:30] process, if they can trust that the process is fair, they're much more likely to agree or at least, you know, abide by the decision that comes out of that process, whether or not they agree with it or not, right? So, just a lack of legitimacy in some ways to what we do. And then, sort of, another from the outside, there is societal stigma that [00:26:00] comes with having a criminal record, right? So, a lot of that, the messages that people get in terms of, "Oh, you're a felon. You shouldn't even try now. Don't even bother." You know, "I want to be a nurse." "Ah, why would you bother? You're a felon," right?
