How do you get to stable remission? Contingency management. There's been 150 clinical trials showing how swift certain modest consequences, again, with things like the Physicians Health Program, which provides monitoring, ongoing long-term monitoring over 5 years, producing 80% remission over 5 years for physicians who meet criteria for a substance use disorder. I am, if you will, simply going to present three examples of the multitude of issues that these reports cover as a means of illustrating the importance of taking a wider perspective if we are to equip ourselves with a periscope that can see beyond our normal gaze. In short, this is looking upstream or over the horizon, so we can be mindful of the potential issues in the workforce supply chain. For this first example, I will argue that basic math skill is important if you are to be a saf ...

And this graph here shows like…the dark blue is the successful completions and for the ones on the left with few tests through the life of their program, it's a high failure rate. But the further you go along on that scale, you see a dramatic increase in how many complete. And final message, this is a little bit of a shift because as you can see, you know, even over the course of the lifetime, only 7% of the nurses in our analysis file are currently being tested at that rate. So what we're suggesting is something that's quite an increase in the amount of drug tests being conducted, but the tradeoff being, we don't think the program needs to be as long.

Much like the action models place structure on the content, scoring models place structure on the raw responses and this allow us to interpret those responses, and make inferences on candidate abilities. We launched the NGN special research section in 2017 and that's when we kicked off data collection for scoring research. Since then we've collected data on over 2,000 NGN items, with over 8 million responses in total. We had over 650,000 examinees respond and interact with the NGN items. Nearly 90% of examinees engaged with the new NGN items and over 4,000 examinees completed the entire NGN section.
